Welcome to the website. My name is Ann Bacon, and I am the founder of Pyrennial Kennel. My household is comprised of myself, my husband Doug, and our 3 pyrs. Now that we are aquainted, let me tell you about the kennel.
Pyrennial Kennel is a small kennel just outside the town of Shelburne Ontario. We specialize in the occasional breeding of the Great Pyrenees and are committed to breeding for the purpose of trying to perfect the breed.
We got our first Pyrenees, Ivory, in July of 1999, and have been hooked ever since. My daughter took Ivory to her Canadian Championship by the time she was a year old. Ivory was spayed after receiving her championship and she went on to receive her Altered Championship as well. Unfortunately, we lost Ivory to illness in March of 2009 shortly before her tenth birthday. Our second Pyr, Ikaila, was purchased in March of 2000, and she is our foundation bitch for breeding. Ikaila was shown to Championship as well with many placements as Winners Bitch and Best of Breed. Ikaila was bred for the first time in September of 2002, and our first litter (of 8) was whelped on November 10, 2002. Ikaila is an excellent mother and we were very pleased with the pups. Ikaila was bred again in August of 2004 and a beautiful litter of ten pups was born on September 27, 2004. Ikaila has retired from breeding and is now spayed.
Out of our first breeding, comes our third Pyr; Kylahna. Kylahna has received her Canadian Championship as well. Kylahna is progressing quite beautifully, and has passed all of her clearances. Her first litter (of 8) was whelped May 31, 2005 and she had a second litter May 5, 2006. Kylahna's third litter was whelped March 28, 2007. Kylahna is a very attentive mom and we have high hopes for her pups. Kylahna will probably have one more litter before she too is retired.
From Kylahna's last litter comes our youngest girl; Sierra. She is currently three years old. Sierra has received her Canadian Championsip and is coming along quite nicely. Sierra has passed all her clearances and she will be our next breeding bitch.
Subsequent litters are planned for once a year and each pup comes with a written health guarantee and contract. The Dam and Sire of any breeding come from Champion bloodlines and are of course Champions themselves. Every adult that we breed have had their eyes, ears and heart checked and all hips and elbows are OFA certified clear.
So, if you are looking for a Gentle Giant for Conformation, Obedience or as a pet, why not give Pyrennial Kennel a try.
Thank you for visiting the Pyrennial Kennel website, feel free to look around and give feedback if you wish.
